After several false starts on how to quilt it, I kept it simple with stitch in the ditch ( a process made very much easier by the starching and pressing of seams) and some decorative chevron lines in the big triangles.
I did a proper label, but also added this, given that it was a special day!
With this major project is complete, I had a lovely time deciding on what to do next. I am planning on a few smaller quilts, to practice piecing, Free Motion Quilting - one of my 2014 goals - and colour choice. I am working on some projects from 101 Fabulous Small Quilts from Martingale Publishers. This book is chock full of wonderful small projects.
I have already cut some 21/2" squares using only what is in my stash, ready to piece,
And after the MCFC quilt, I am more than ready for some slow stitching, so I've strated a small English Paper Piecing block to make a cushion. This 12" block is called Hands Al Round or Snow Crystals,
And I spent yesterday preparing the paper pieces out of freezer paper and cutting out the shapes,
To sustain me during the many hours of SID on the football quilt, I have been enjoying a new discovery, the appropriately named Rose Bud infusion, from Pekoe Tea of Edinburgh, a real treat.
